Another day, another BlackBerry outage. RIM (Research In Motion) once known for a very stable network seems to be slowly failing its users in failure after failure. Today BlackBerry users were once again hit with another data outage in North America that effected BBM (BlackBerry Messenger), web browsing and most applications. Since this started earlier today it appears email is now being affected.
This outage once again coincided with the release of a new BlackBerry Messenger release version 5.0.0.57. Which on a side note you can download here, once you get service restored.
Unfortunately RIM holds all the cards and just leaves its millions of customers wondering what is going on as they never update their blog or Twitter account with any real-time network related information like the majority of other technology providers do.
So for now you just have to sit and wait to get your service back. The last few outages have lasted about 12 hours. This one seems to be getting progressively worse from many user reports.
RIM needs to wake up as the rest of the industry is waving at them as they pass them by. Reliability is the key, especially with RIM’s focus being on the enterprise.
