AT&T has announced that the company is going to start enabling FaceTime over their Cellular network at no extra cost to their customers with any tiered data plan using a compatible iOS device.
AT&T had made FaceTime available only to customers who signed up for their Mobile Share plan. Users with “unlimited” plans still cannot use FaceTime over cellular. You will need to switch to a tiered or Mobile Share product. While I give AT&T credit for offering the service to more users, they really just need to open it up to all users.
Senior Vice President of Data and Voice Products, Mark Collins stated, “We have already begun updating our systems and processes and expect to start rolling the update out to customers on an ongoing basis beginning in the next couple of weeks. Customers do not need to do anything – the update will be applied automatically over the next few months.”
