It’s been a week since International CES in Las Vegas, Nevada. I was taking a look back on what the “WOW factor” was for me, and the Ascend Mate 2 4G from Huawei stood out.
Samsung has been the biggest name in the Android device arena when it comes to smartphones, especially when it comes to bigger displays. Huawei has designed a device that can easily compete with Samsung’s Note series and give them a run for their money.
When first getting my hands on the Ascend Mate 2 4G, I was automatically drawn in by the display. Usually a bigger screen doesn’t do much for me, but a 6.1” display will grab your attention, especially since I’m an iPhone 5S (4” display) user. When playing around with the handset and talking with the Huawei rep, the first feature she pointed out was the 4050 mAh battery that gives you up to 60 hours of battery life. A power user can go up to 12 hours of display with data access. This is perfect for the majority of us who live on our smartphone. Not to mention you’re even able to charge another device right from smartphone as well. Perfect for topping off Bluetooth accessories, etc.
Surprisingly with how big the handset is I though it was going to weight a lot especially compared to the Galaxy Note 3, but it was fairly light and fit comfortably in my hand. The speed of the Ascend Mate 2 4G was quite fast as well, but had to avoid trying to surf the web as we all know cellular data / Wi-Fi speed at CES are a joke.
Other features on the Ascend Mate 2 4G include:
- Quad-core 1.6GHz CPU
- Android 4.3
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB built in storage
- 13 megapixel rear AF Camera
- 5 megapixel front-facing camera
- 1080P video recording/ playback
Overall, I really enjoyed the design of the Ascend Mate 2 4G and the features it has to offer. Extremely impressed with the battery life it’s promised to give you. It’s also, nice to see Huawei up their game and come out with such a powerhouse device to compete in the Android market arena.
There was not much talk about a price or when the Ascend Mate 2 will be available, but there has been talk of the handset reaching the United States on AT&T’s network. Take a look at the pictures and video of Step-by-Step dance crew showing off Huawei’s Ascend Mate 2 4G.
