Take A Look At The Microsoft Surface Pro From The Inside

Surface Pro 2

The Microsoft Surface Pro has only been available for a few days and the team over at iFixit has already taken the $900 tablet / laptop apart. There were over 90 screws that were removed, which lead iFixit to rate the repairing a 1 (most difficult) out of 10 (easy). Even upgrading the SSD card would cause you problems, as there are a number of cables to deal with.

So, handle your Surface Pro with care! You can take a look at some images of the device completely gutted.

iPad Mini Delivered Prior To Launch

We know Apple is usually good at keeping to a tight delivery schedule with their shipping partners for new product launches. My iPhone 5 sat in a U.S. warehouse for nearly a week before it was dispatched for arrival on launch day even though I checked everyday hoping it would be delivered early.

As usual, someone got lucky and received there iPad Mini ahead of the launch. The French customer had pre-ordered from retailer Darty and received it today.

Here is the required unboxing pictures. The first thing you will notice is it is smaller and looks like an iPad. Other than that, it is just an iPad.

Best Buy To Launch Insignia Branded Android Tablet

Best Buy is rumored to launch their own Android tablet named “Insignia Flex”. According to Reuters, Best Buy is looking to compete with Apple’s iPad and Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD.

Some of the rumored features of the “Insignia Flex” are a dual-core 1 GHz processor, 9.7-inch display with ten-hours of battery life.

The tablet is said to arrive in Best Buy stores on November 11th with a price between $239 and $259. This price range is slightly above the Kindle Fire HD and well below Apple’s iPad 3.

I am not sure how a Best Buy branded tablet will do. I just don’t see them being able to provide the required support or updates needed.

Apple is holding an event on October 23rd that will take place in San Jose, California at 10:00 AM Pacific Standard Time. On the invitation Apple states “We’ve got a little more to show you.”

It appears this will be the day Apple announces the iPad Mini and hopefully the new version of iTunes.

According to one source the iPad Mini will arrive on November 2nd in the United States, United Kingdom and potentially a few other countries. Their source is the same one that provided the accurate iPhone 5 release date.

Pre-orders are rumored to start on October 26th. The iPad Mini is said to start at $250.
