Skype Mobile Available On Select Verizon Wireless Smartphones

Last week at CTIA in Las Vegas Verizon Wireless and Skype announced that Skype services would be made available on nine Verizon Wireless smartphones over their 3G network. This is a major step as consumers and businesses continue to try to cut cost of conducting business worldwide and make themselves more accessible at a lower cost.

iPhone & AT&T Named #1 Combination

Here’s some food for thought. AT&T has prided themselves in having the best coverage in the US, leaving their competitors in the dust. After the bashing by Verizon Wireless with their “Map For That” commercials it just might be AT&T laughing in the end.

PC Magazine conducted tests in 13 cities from 20 stationary outdoor locations in each city that represented the largest user base. These cities included Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Denver, New Orleans, New York City, Orlando, Phoenix, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle.  The test was all about data and not voice usage or quality. Wholesale Applications Community Challenges Apple Application Dominance

Yesterday morning it was announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that two dozen of the worlds wireless operators will combined an alliance to compete with Apple who has overtaken the application market with over 150,000 applications.

The Alliance is calling themselves the “Wholesale Applications Community”. Orange, AT&T, and Telefonica are some of the technology platform designers set to deliver applications to all mobile-phone users. Also taking a role in this alliance is Verizon Wireless, China Mobile and Softbank of Japan to create standard, common technology. LG Electronics, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson being large manufacturers have also joined this community.  Read more

Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus with Verizon Wireless

Just a few short weeks ago, Verizon Wireless released both the Palm Pre Plus and the Palm Pixi Plus into their growing lineup of smartphones. This move brought Palm’s most powerful products to the CDMA provider and its users while providing them with the flexibility of having two different options; both of which offer touch screen capabilities combined with a full QWERTY keypad. However, the Palm Pre Plus has its keypad neatly hidden under a slide up display while still delivering a relatively compact design.

Powered by Palm’s webOS platform, these devices have been marketed for their ease of use and ability to make multi-tasking more efficient and intuitive with features such as Palm Synergy and a gestures area. This is coupled with the ability to run multiple applications simultaneously along with a very popular multi-touch capability for the touch screen. Motorola Droid Still Turning Heads Two Months After Launch


Flexing their muscle as having the most wireless coverage in the United States, Verizon Wireless launched the newest frontier of smartphone technology with the introduction of the Motorola Droid.

LgTouchFullVerizon has delivered the LG Chocolate Touch and it sounds like it may be of interest quite a few users.  Verizons latest commercial featuring Ciara and her song “Work”  show off the music qualities of the LG Chocolate Touch.
