Speck CandyShell Grip, Get Your Gaming On

Speck 2

Let’s talk candy, not Candy Crush (I will block you) but CandyShell Grip from Speck. Speck a company I’ve come to love has come a long way since first starting in the smartphone industry. Speck has delivered many different styles of cases over the years like the CandyShell series, SmartFlex series, Pixelskin series and Fabshell series.

My favorite case of Speck’s at the moment is their CandyShell Grip series. If you’re a big time gamer and want great protection you’ll find the CandyShell Grip will handle your needs.

Since being introduced to the CandeyShell Grip, it’s been hard for me to use other cases. For starters, the rubber grip structure eliminates the slipperiness helping prevent you from dropping your phone. Not to mention the case has all-around protection from a raised bezel which keeps your screen safe and it also has rubberized cover shield buttons.

The CandyShell Grip comes in several different colors, so it’s quite easy to find one that fits your lifestyle. The CandyShell Grip costs $34.95 and comes with a one-year warranty.

If you don’t have an iPhone 5 don’t worry, the CandyShell Grip is available for other smartphones as well. Look below to see if your device makes the cut.

  • iPhone 4/ 4S / 5
  • Nokia Lumia 920, 1020
  • Motorola Droid ULTRA
  • HTC One, One X, One X+
  • HTC Windows Phone 8X

If you are in the market for a new phone or a new network AT&T has a special offer if you are interested in the Windows 8 line of devices. AT&T’s deal is simple, buy one Windows 8 phone such as the HTC Windows Phone 8X, or the Nokia Lumina 920 and get 100 dollars off a second device. This is the same deal they recently ran for Samsung devices.

Now as with all deals like this there are a few stipulations; first to receive the deal you must sign a two-year contract for both the devices, second the two devices must be the same exact model, and finally when you receive the 100 dollars off it will be taken off of the lower priced phone and if the phone is less than 100 dollars its free. You do not have to decide to buy both devices on the same day, you can buy one and return to buy the other anytime between now and February 21st.AT&T is also keeping true to their 14 day buyers remorse period, so should you dislike the phone simply take it back within 14 days of purchase and exchange it for another Windows 8 phone.

If you are activating a new AT&T account or just upgrading your existing AT&T account you can take advantage of this offer. The offer continues through January 21st.

Microsoft Windows Phone 8 Features

Today Microsoft has officially launched their Windows Phone 8 OS and a list of new/enhanced features it has to offer. Joe Belfiore, Program Manager took the stage to detail the features.

With Windows Phone 8, there is a “new lock screen” which will refresh content, notifications and other tiles depending on which mobile apps are being used, such as Facebook. You can also change it into a photo slideshow; display sports scores, weather and more. It is a completely customizable experience.

Skype is now completely integrated into the OS, resulting in an always-on solution. You are able to receive calls or messages at anytime and it does it without running code in the background improving battery life.

If you love Pandora you are going to love the deal they have for you with Microsoft. Pandora users get the service ad free for the first year.

Another major addition is the Data Sense technology. Not only does Windows Phone 8 compress data to conserve expensive cellular data it also keeps track of usage in real time and alerts you to potential problems and apps chewing through your plan. Verizon users will be the first to get their hands on Data Sense feature.

The addition of Kid’s Corner, in directly allows for a makeshift multiuser environment. It allows you to set a restrictive environment to allow a friend or child limited access to your device. You can choose what apps or features the user can access.

The People Hub gets better as it has a new feature called Rooms. If you are a GroupMe user you maybe experiencing a little deja vu. Skype purchased GroupMe and Microsoft purchased Skype. With the list of technology buyouts Microsoft has deployed their own private chat area for family, friends and coworkers.

Microsoft has released a 19 minute video highlighting Windows Phone 8. If you have any interest in the OS we suggest you check it out below.

Nokia Jumps In “Line” With Samsung – Mocking Apple

It’s always interesting to see manufactures attack Apple and this time instead of Samsung, Nokia is taking a bite out of the apple.

It is a simple attack that makes us wonder if Nokia believes smartphone technology is all about color. I for one like a neutral color device with a wide range of colorful accessories.

Nokia ends the ad with “This is Lumia”! The title of the ad is “Time to #switch”, take a look at the ad and let us know what you think.

Windows Phone 8 OS Video

Nokia and HTC have both announced their Windows Phone 8 and now we have a leaked video that walks us through Windows Phone 8 OS. This is 10 minutes, “Hands on with the finalized Windows Phone 8 emulator OS Build 9900″.
