Nokia Jumps In “Line” With Samsung – Mocking Apple

It’s always interesting to see manufactures attack Apple and this time instead of Samsung, Nokia is taking a bite out of the apple.

It is a simple attack that makes us wonder if Nokia believes smartphone technology is all about color. I for one like a neutral color device with a wide range of colorful accessories.

Nokia ends the ad with “This is Lumia”! The title of the ad is “Time to #switch”, take a look at the ad and let us know what you think.

Samsung Galaxy S III To Be Available In More Colors

The Galaxy S III will now be available in four new four colors. The new colors have been inspired by nature and bring an elegant, intelligent and stylish look according to Samsung.

Colors will vary depending on the country and carrier. Below are pictures and descriptions of the new colors. We are not sure which ones will be appearing in the U.S. just yet.

Amber Brown -Inspired by the mysterious and unique gem, which was believed to sustain the secrets of the earth inside it. The deep, rich color of Amber Brown redefines the classic color and emphasizes the beauty of the advanced organic design of the GALAXY S III.

Garnet Red -Rare and special, the gemstone Almandite Garnet was worn as an amulet by the ancient Egyptians who believed the stone contained protective powers. Garnet Red holds the delicateness and elegance of Almandite Garnet, in line with the GALAXY S III’s soft curves and smooth lines.

Sapphire Black -A color that adds the mysterious power of dark stones to the refined, deep sophistication of the color black, Sapphire Black is inspired by the stones used by the ancient people of India and Persia for protection, with the belief they strengthened one’s willpower.

Titanium Grey -Inspired by the color grey as a symbol for intelligence, insight and curiosity, all of which are embodied within the design of the GALAXY S III. Titanium Grey expresses the feeling of modernity and wisdom bringing a futuristic element to the handset.

Gartner Reports Android Devices At The Top In Sales In 2Q

In the world of mobile phones, sales have dropped 2.3 percent in the second quarter compared to last year and smartphone sales came in at 36.7 percent of total mobile phone sales according to Gartner.

“Demand slowed further in the second quarter of 2012,” said Anshul Gupta, principal research analyst at Gartner. “The challenging economic environment and users postponing upgrades to take advantage of high-profile device launches and promotions available later in the year slowed demand across markets. Demand of feature phones continued to decline, significantly weakening the overall mobile phone market.

Looking at the chart in the battle of OS’s (Operating Systems) Android carried themselves to the top with 64.1% in sales that is a 20.7% jump from last year’s second quarter. Apple followed behind in second with 18.8% in units sold only rising .6%.

In the second quarter of 2012, consumer demand for the Apple iPhone weakened as sales fell 12.6 percent from the first quarter of 2012, but grew 47.4 percent year on year. Depending on the exact launch date of the new iPhone, Apple might experience another weaker-than-usual quarter in the third quarter of 2012, while Apple will be ready to take advantage of the strong holiday sales in North America and Western Europe that have historically remained immune to economic pressure.

When it came to manufacturers Samsung was at the top with 21.6 percent in units sold, Nokia found themselves in the second spot with 19.9 percent and Apple in third with 6.9 percent in sales.

Should be interesting to see how sales jump for Apple has the company is getting ready to release their new iPhone and Samsung will continue to keep up their sales as newer Galaxy modes continue to roll out. Android devices will continue to dominate the market for the foreseeable future.
